Marina Dock Signs
SFMI is pleased to have partnered up with The Humane Society of the United States of America in order to supply dock signs to every registered marina free of charge. For every newly registered marina in the USA, Caribbean and Australia we will deliver two (2) 12"x18" marine grade aluminium signs with holes pre-drilled and ready to hang. The coated signs will last for decades while alerting fishermen that they must practice catch and release when fishing for sharks.
Register your marina here.

Invitation to Register
You probably already know of a marina in your local area you'd like to see registered as a 'Shark-Free Marina'. While we endeavor to contact all marinas there is a lot you can do to help us by downloading and printing the 'Invitation to Register', post it or take it to the Harbor Master yourself and encourage them to register.
Suggestion:
If you mail our invitation ensure that you include a personal cover letter telling the marina why your business matters. When contacting a marina remember that they are a business and SFMI respects their right to make a profit and keep their boat owners and visitors happy. It's ok to be passionate about saving sharks but SFMI will not condone slander or defamation of any kind in the name of the Shark-Free Marina Initiative.

Shark-Free Marinas Official Company Blurb
When writing about or describing the 'Shark-Free Marina Initiative' please use the following promotional blurb:
The Shark-Free Marina Initiative has a singular purpose, to reduce worldwide shark mortality. We encourage shark conservation at sport fishing and resort marinas by prohibiting the landing of any shark at the participating marina. The SFMI works with marinas, fishermen and like minded non-profit groups to form community conscious policy and increase awareness of the need to protect our sharks, our ocean and our legacy.
Message to be posted for fisherman and clients
Each marina and resort that supports this initiative will receive a metal sign and logo we have created to post at their marina office with the following information for their marina websites:
(Name of resort and marina) supports the Shark-Free Marinas Initiative in the (Name of region) region. The (Name of region) is home to many shark species and the healthy (reef or marine) systems that support these sharks. We feel the one-time harvesting of sharks for photo images or souvenir jaws is not in the best interests of the (Name of region) people or (Name of region) tourism.
Worldwide, sharks are being harvested for fins, jaws and meat at a completely unsustainable rate. An estimated 60-100 million sharks per year are taken in this manner. By asking vessels not to arrive at our facilities with sharks, we hope to encourage responsible sport fishing, thereby ensuring a lasting and healthy population of sharks in our ocean for future generations and contributing to the overall health of the (Local body of water).
Please practice catch and release with all sharks and enjoy our facilities.
Welcome to (Name of the region).
