The Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest animal protection organization — backed by 11 million Americans, or one of every 28. For more than a half-century, The HSUS has been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education and hands-on programs. The Humane Society of the United States has teamed up with Shark-Free Marinas in a campaign to significantly reduce worldwide shark mortality and are providing funding for dock signs and Ambassador Literature to marinas and members in the United States, Caribbean and Australia. The Fisheries Conservation Foundation (FCF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that promotes the work and knowledge of aquatic scientists, resource managers, and environmental professionals. The FCF strives to ensure that objective, peer-reviewed scientific information about fisheries and aquatic resources reaches policy-makers and the public, so the decisions made about the use of our freshwater and marine ecosystems are logical, informed, and based on the principles of sustainability. |

The Cape Eleuthera Institute aims to change the way people live and view resources, especially in coastal communities. CEI connects people to the environment by being a hub for exploration, primary research, and information exchange. Local partners for education and outreach include The Island School and Deep Creek Middle School and collaborations with universities and other NGOs worldwide allow CEI to pursue projects with widespread results. The five major research areas at CEI include: sustainable food production through aquaculture and aquaponics; shark conservation; bonefish and flats ecology; coral reef ecology; and, sustainable systems (renewable energy, green building, etc.). Our facility was designed to integrate people with the local environment to create greater awareness of and respect for fragile ecosystems. |
